The Student Assistance Program or SAP is committed to the promotion of a healthy, safe, and drug-free lifestyle among students. SAP works collaboratively with guidance as well as the students, school administration, guidance, faculty, staff, parents, and the community, including the PTA and the Roanoke County Prevention Council. The SAP is focused on student awareness and coordinates activities and events toward prevention and awareness for the students throughout the year. In addition, the SAP is in place to provide support, counseling, and education to students to prevent and intervene with risk-taking behaviors and to improve their social and emotional well-being.
Students are provided with private/confidential individual counseling or support groups.
Students may request services themselves or may be referred by a parent or school staff.
Parental permission is required for students to participate individually or in a group.
Students may be referred to prevent future difficulties or intervene with current difficulties.
All referrals are discussed with the SAP's school-based team (Core Team) for recommendations.

Anger Management
Conflict Resolution
Substance Abuse Prevention
