Grandma's Desert Home

Grandma told me that even as a young woman she shunned the city.  She never liked the crowds and always cherished quiet times.  That's why she moved to the desert.  The first time I visited her there, I was surprised.  From the road, you could not see her house.  It was hidden by tall grasses and other desert growth.  I had not expected to see so many plants in the desert.

When Grandma and I walked behind her house, I saw a giant windmill.  Its wooden arms were spinning slowly in the breeze.  Grandma explained that as it spins, the windmill pumps water from her well.  She has ample water for drinking and bathing.  There's even enough for watering the vegetables that she has planted in furrows in the soil.
