At the Beach

The boy and girl were curious about the brown and green plant that washed up on the beach.  They poked at it.  It looked like seaweed and felt slippery.  It floated in the sea but collapsed on the beach like limp, wet noodles.

The plant was full of marine life, living things from the sea.  The boy lifted a delicate sand dollar.  It broke in his hands.  The children were more careful with the seashells.  They knew that a seashell can be a home to a tiny sea creature.  The girl picked up a seashell.  The sea animal had not survived.  She gently put it down near the water's edge.  Another sea creature might use it for its home.
