Literary Forms

Fiction tells about made-up people and events.

Nonfiction tells about people and events from real life or  gives information about a topic.

Poetry often has rhyming words and a regular rhythm.

Drama is meant to be spoken aloud for an audience.

 

Examples:

A.  The next day, Jamal rode all the way to the Golden Gate.  "Wow, what a bridge!" he said.

 

B.  Jamal:  Let's meet on the bridge.

     Dante:  (eagerly getting on his bike)  I'll race  you!

 

C.  The Golden Gate Bridge is 8,981 feet long.

 

D.  It rises from the bay's soft bed.

       Its towers are a rusty red.
