Decode Long Words
When trying to figure out a long word, remember to:
Look for word parts or letter patterns you know.
Divide the word into syllables.
Use letter sounds and letter patterns to sound out each syllable.
Blend the syllables together to read the whole word.
Check to see if the word sounds like one you know or have heard before.

Snowstorm Alert!
The weather service has predicted that a big storm will hit our town tomorrow. Driving will be difficult. Snowy roads may be slippery. Cars can start skidding. Even people who drive carefully may have accidents. School will be canceled until snowplows can clear the snow off the roads.
