In addition to retirement benefits, Group Life Insurance through Minnesota Life is also provided and fully paid by the Roanoke County Public School Board. For further information or questions, contact Sonja Stump.
Employee extended work plan is available to full-time Roanoke County School Board employees at any time after age 55 who are members of the VRS and have completed 10 continuous years of full-time service in the Roanoke County Public School System. Personal leave is granted to teachers. These employees receive two personal leave days with full pay per year to be added to accumulated sick leave days if not used and 3 partial pay days (less substitute rate regardless whether a substitute was or was not secured). Sick leave bank allows eligible employees the option of receiving a loan for sick leave in the event of a major illness. For further information or questions, contact Deb Epperly.

Other leaves include FMLA, educational leave, emergency leave, jury duty, family and medical leave, maternity leave, military leave, professional leave. Sick Leave accrues at the rate of 1 day per month. Teachers receive 10 days per year and may continue to accrue sick leave days for the length of time employed by the Roanoke County Public School System. Holidays include eight paid days annually. Payroll is semi-monthly. Supplemental pay is available for approved athletic and extracurricular services performed beyond regular duties. Direct Deposit is available. Salary Increment Requests (Bachelors +12 & +24 Hours, Masters + 12 & + 24 Hours & Doctorate) are available to qualified employees with hours beyond their degrees. See the Salary Increment Request for guidelines. If you do qualify, send your completed form with the required information to Kim Thompson.
