Kindergarten Information
Not not sure which elementary school your child(ren) will attend?
Check the school district locator.
All children who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2012, are eligible for kindergarten. Parents should register their children at the elementary school in their home area on Thursday, January 19 and Friday, January 20 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Parents should bring the following information to registration:- Child’s birth certificate
- Social Security card
- Immunization record
- Proof of residency (a mortgage, a pending contract, a copy of a lease, voter's card, or a property tax statement will be accepted as proof of residency)
* Note: A driver’s license or vehicle registration will not be accepted as proof of residency.
Schools must have the physical and immunization record on file prior to the first day of school or students will not be allowed to attend school. Pupils who are presently attending kindergarten in Roanoke County Public Schools are not required to register. Children currently enrolled in a Roanoke County Public Schools preschool program who are eligible for kindergarten must go through the registration process. If the date of the current physical and immunization record on file exceeds 12 months of the first day of school, an updated physical and immunization record is required before the first day of school.
