Attention Parents: With Roanoke County’s district wide conversion to Synergy, our new Student Information System, parent logins have changed. Some student logins have changed as well due to the requirements for student ID numbers in Synergy. Sometime the week of September 8, a letter will be sent home with your child detailing the username and password for your Blackboard login. Please know that your previous login will not work.
The Roanoke County School Board announced last Thursday that it will begin the process of hiring a new superintendent by seeking public input on qualifications for a new superintendent. The School Board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RoanokeCoSupt and also on our home page at www.rcs.k12.va.us. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the Roanoke County School Board administration office and at every school.
In addition to the survey, the School Board will hold two public hearings for citizen input. The public hearings will be on August 27 and September 11 as a part of our regularly scheduled School Board meetings. The start time of both meetings is 7 PM.
The hiring of a new superintendent is the biggest task facing the School Board and we want to make sure that the public has a voice in this process. We hope parents, staff and residents will take time to fill out the survey and/or attend a public hearing.
The Code of Virginia requires each school system to prepare and post the proposed average per-pupil cost for public education for the coming year, estimates for the current year and actual data for the previous year. Our per-pupil cost is available at this link http://www.rcs.k12.va.us/budget/documents/August2014.pdf or see the attached document.
Fall Sports Schedules can be found on the Athletics link at the top of this page.
Please reference this map noting the changes in regard to the gates that will be open for our football games at Bogle Stadium. As of September 4, 2013, only the two gates on the opposite ends of the home side will be open for entering the stadium. The gates on the visitor’s side will not be open. The problem arises because neither Cave Spring High School or Hidden Valley opens these visitor-side gates for their games. The home side has 3 areas to park (see scanned map) which offers adequate parking for spectators.

- The Northside Middle School culture is based on collaboration between the teachers, staff, administration, students, and school community. We strive to create a safe learning environment that is conducive to student learning and the creation of positive relationships. The Norsemen Code, which is based on reinforcing positive student behaviors and correcting inappropriate student behaviors, is the primary tool to accomplish our goal.
