Chewning named assistant principal at William Byrd H.S.
Nancy Chewning, instructional technology resource teacher (ITRT) at William Byrd High School has been named an assistant principal at WBHS by the Roanoke County School Board.
Chewning holds both a bachelors degree and a master’s degree from the University of Virginia. She first joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 2000 as an English teacher at William Byrd High School. In 2007, she became the school’s ITRT as well as assisting with school testing.
“Nancy has been an outstanding teacher at William Byrd High School for many years. I am confident she will be an outstanding assistant principal,” said Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lorraine Lange.
