Dr. Lange to participate in first ever Innovation Workshop
Digital Promise is inviting a group of leading school districts from across the country, including Dr. Lorraine Lange from Roanoke County Public Schools, to participate in a series of meetings as part of its first annual Innovation Workshop in Washington D.C. from July 17 - July 18, 2012. During these meetings, superintendents will have the opportunity to talk with senior administration officials about spurring innovation across the country. The workshop is part of Digital Promise’s key initiative, the League of Innovative Schools.
“We’re thrilled to invite our League of Innovative Schools member districts to Digital Promise’s first Innovation Workshop,” said Adam Frankel, the Executive Director of Digital Promise. “These districts are the tip of the spear when it comes to innovation in education, and we’re planning to leverage this time together to chart a plan for delivering results for their students and sharing their successes with leading policymakers.”
The League, announced at a White House event in September 2011, is an alliance of 26 school districts in 18 states committed to using technological innovation to dramatically increase student achievement. The League was launched by Digital Promise, the new national center authorized by a bipartisan coalition in Congress, to advance breakthroughs in education with technology.
Digital Promise is a bipartisan independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation authorized under President Bush in 2008 and formally launched under President Obama in September 2011. Its mission is “to support a comprehensive research and development program to harness the increasing capacity of advanced information and digital technologies to improve all levels of learning and education, formal and informal, in order to provide Americans with the knowledge and skills needed to compete in the global economy.”
