The Roanoke County School Board has named James Booan as the new assistant principal at Burlington Elementary School, beginning July 1. Booan replaces Cindy Klimaitis, who recently was named the new principal at Fort Lewis Elementary.
Booan brings 12 years of teaching experience to Burlington, most recently as the reading specialist at Mount Pleasant Elementary. He holds a Bachelors degree from the State College of New York at Cortland and a Masters degree from Radford University.
“Jim has been a wonderful reading specialist at Mount Pleasant,” said Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lorraine Lange. “He helped maintain a high emphasis on reading at Mount Pleasant and I know he will be a great asset at Burlington,” Dr. Lange added.
