Bradshaw named principal at Oak Grove Elem.,
Klimaitis named principal at Fort Lewis Elem.

The Roanoke County School Board has named Kimberly Bradshaw, current principal at Fort Lewis Elementary as the new principal at Oak Grove Elementary, beginning July 1.  Bradshaw will replace Cris Flippen who is retiring at the end of the school year. 

Bradshaw worked as second and third grade teacher in Roanoke County before becoming assistant principal at Burlington Elementary in 2007 and principal at Fort Lewis in 2009.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from Longwood College and a masters of education degree in administration and supervision from the University of Virginia. 

The School Board also announced that Cindy Klimaitis, current assistant principal at Burlington Elementary will be the new principal at Fort Lewis Elementary, beginning July 1.  Klimaitis has been teaching since 1993, specializing in special education and reading and has taught kindergarten to seventh grade in all subjects.  She was named the Burlington Elementary assistant principal in 2009.

Klimaitis holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Bluefield State College, a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Virginia Tech and an education specialist degree in educational leadership from Virginia Tech.

“Kim and Cindy have been outstanding leaders in their schools and I’m proud they are taking their leadership to new areas,” said Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lorraine Lange.  “While we’re sad to see Cris Flippen retire, we wish her all the best in the future,” Lange said.
