BCAT masonry teams take 1st, 2nd and 4th at Virginia State Fair

Several teams from the Burton Center for Arts & Technology competed in the SkillsUSA masonry competition put on by the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Union #1 at the Virginia State Fair in Doswell.

Three teams from BCAT took 1st, 2nd and 4th place at the event.

Masonry programs from tech centers throughout the state send teams of 2 to build a brick project of the judges choosing in two hours. This year teams built 8" brick leads (see photo, right). Masons judge the projects for all the criteria considered important by the industry.
