Mapping Treasures
From Around the World
Library Mapping Project
Mountain View ’s Library is full of activity. All classes have library once a week for 45 minutes. Students are encouraged to visit the library at any time with their teacher's permission to return and checkout books.
This summer and throughout the 2011-2012 school year the library will be collecting postcards and small knick knacks from places that Mountain View students and teachers visit.
We will map out all the places that
students/teachers visited when they bring a postcard or a knick knack to
school at the beginning of the year. The upper grades will also do some
research on several of the locations that are visited. I will keep the
postcards in a photo album and the knick knacks on a special table for the
whole school to view. The students will have their name on the items so
everyone will know where they have traveled.
So… when you go on
vacation or just visit surrounding communities pick up a postcard or a
souvenir with the location’s name or you may also take a picture of your
student with a location sign and bring that in too! ( example- if you go
to The Smoky Mountains stand in front of the National Park sign and take a
picture). Our school community wants to see where our friends have
traveled over this treasured world.
