School Profile

Mount Pleasant is a public elementary school located in a relatively isolated, rural section of southeast Roanoke County. The school is a central part of a traditional community. It houses a branch of the Roanoke County Library, as well as an after school child care program.

Grades Prekindergarten through fifth, special education programs for the learning disabled, the severely profoundly disabled, the educable mentally disabled, and the emotionally disturbed are housed at Mount Pleasant. There are usually three classes per grade level. The school is one of four elementary schools which feed into William Byrd Middle School and William Byrd High School

The student population has remained stable for the past five years. There is also little turnover in faculty positions. Mount Pleasant is a Title 1 school with 30% student participation.
