Our Program

Our classroom guidance program at Mt. Pleasant covers the Standards for School Counseling Programs in Virginia Public Schools. These standards are organized by grade level under the following goals: academic development, career development and personal/social development. To view the goals for each grade level, schedule, news and links, click below on the desired grade.

Small group counseling is available on a variety of topics for all first through fifth graders during the school year when classroom guidance is not being offered.

Individual counseling is provided on an as-needed basis at all grade levels and can be requested by parents, teachers, student, the counselor or the family intervention specialist.

Consultation is available at any time for parents or teachers.

Due to the current economy, school counseling services at Mt. Pleasant have been shortened to 3 days per week this year.  Miss Peters will provide services on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.  She will serve Clearbrook Elementary the remaining days each week.

With the help of federal stimulus funding, Mt. Pleasant is fortunate to have the services of a family intervention specialist for the next two years.  Mrs. Knight will work with students in the classroom, in small groups, and on an individual basis.  Her days will be Tuesday and Thursday each week.
