Parents: Please plan to attend the HVHS Athletic Booster Club's annual fund raising event on March 8th from 7:00 - 11:00 PM at the Hidden Valley Country Club. Attendees must be at least 21 years old. The Casino Night / Silent Auction is always an exciting event filled with high energy fun and loaded with great auction items to be purchased at excellent values! All English 10 students will take the Writing SOL - Multiple Choice Portion on Tuesday, March 11th at 8:20 AM. Students taking the SOL need to bring their computers, and their chargers, to school that day. All other students will follow a normal class schedule that day.
All English 10 students will take the Writing SOL - Free Response Portion on Wednesday, March 12th at 8:20 AM. Students taking the SOL will need to bring their computers, and their chargers, to school that day.
BCAT students please read this letter concerning Tuesday, March 11th and Wednesday, March 12th.
All students who are NOT enrolled in English 10 are asked to arrive at Hidden Valley at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 12th. All students will follow a delayed schedule once the Writing SOL is completed. Students not taking the SOL who arrive at school prior to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 12th will be sent to the auditorium. Computers and other electronic devices may not be used in the auditorium while the SOL it taking place.
This year's Roanoke Valley Schools Relay for Life will be held on Saturday, March 15th from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at the Cave Spring Middle School track. All are welcome. This Relay has been 100% planned by students from across our valley. Please make plans to stop by to offer your support.
Because of snow days, school will be open on Monday, March 17th, Good Friday, April 18th, and Memorial Day Monday, May 26th. Please plan accordingly.
The Roanoke County Education Foundation and Fleet Feet are sponsoring a Backpack Run on Saturday, March 22nd at 8:00 AM at Green Hill Park. This is a 5K Run / Walk that anyone may enter. Proceeds will be used to fund scholarships for Roanoke County Public Schools graduates as well as grants for teachers. All Sophomore and Junior Girls are invited to consider a residential summer camp at Virginia Tech. Virginia Techís College of Engineering invites you to participate in a program called C-Tech2 - Computers and Technology at Virginia Tech. A primary focus of the program is to help develop and sustain the interests of women in engineering. The program allows sophomore and junior girls to explore applications of engineering in a way that is fun and exciting. You will spend the majority of your time involved in hands-on activities designed to increase your interest in and knowledge of applications of engineering to real world situations. While we understand this is a slight inconvenience, we feel these measures are required to protect our students, faculty, and staff.
There has been a change to the Final Assessment Exemption Policy. You may read the entire policy by clicking here. The most important change is that students must be present for at least half of the class period to be considered present for purposes of the final exam exemption.
