LEAVE NO DOUBT!!
Parents: At their meeting last evening, the School Board approved changing the make-up schedule for the time missed due to bad weather this year. Glenvar Middle School will be extending fourth block by 5 minutes and will dismiss at 3:30 pm. This new schedule will start on Monday March 23 and will continue through the end of the current school year.
The additional instructional time accumulated using the adjusted schedule will allow us to give back the holidays previously taken to make up the missed time. Schools will now be closed on April 3 (Good Friday), May 25 (Memorial Day), and April 10 (last day of Spring Break.)
Thank you for supporting your child and Glenvar Middle School!
StudentVue is now active for students to begin using. They will access their accounts by going to the following URL: https://vue.rcs.k12.va.us/
The username and password for each student is the same as their Blackboard account. Student VUE screens look almost exactly like the Parent VUE screens. Please click on the link for directions: To access your StudentVUE account copy
Security in schools has become a very important topic over the past several years as we have witnessed tragedies at Columbine, Virginia Tech and most recently in Newtown, CT. Roanoke County Schools has taken steps to ensure that your children are safe every day that they attend school. A new safety measure is being employed this year at all schools that will require all visitors to our schools – including parents, grandparents, etc. – to register in the office, or at other designated areas, before entering the main school building. You are encouraged to allot a little bit of extra time when picking up your child. At Glenvar High School and Glenvar Middle School parents must report to the main office first. Please have your driver’s license ready when signing in. We know that this is an inconvenience, however, as parents, we must recognize that a few extra minutes spent on the process could potentially protect the students and staff at Glenvar.
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…
Should you have any questions about this new process, please do not hesitate to contact Joe Hafey (principal / GHS) or Jamie Soltis (principal / GMS).
