Thanks for checking out the Glenvar Preschool Website. Everyday is an adventure in preschool. The children add just the right element of unpredictability so that we are never bored. We spend our days: singing, laughing, eating, playing, building, cooking, reading, listening, working, resting, writing, painting, climbing, counting, labeling, dancing and learning, learning, learning.
Our program is based on the OWL curriculum (Opening Windows of Learning) and record keeping is done using The Work Sampling System. Children with individual education plans also attend the preschool program and their educational planning is based on their ieps.
The preschool classroom is designed to provide a fun and safe atmosphere where children can thrive. We have units of study that include books, music, art activities, movement activities, and child choice activities (centers) set up to help the children focus on various aspects of learning. Personal-social, self-help, communication, motor and cognitive skills are all important considerations when we are planning our day.
At Glenvar, we get to take advantage of the whole school and surrounding area. We love to see all the friendly faces in the cafeteria, play in the gym and check out library books. We have fun on the playground, taking walks outside our school or riding our bikes on the paved areas.
