The Roanoke County Schools Golden Apple Teaching Excellence awards reception was held April 22nd.Each year, teachers from across Roanoke County Public Schools are nominated by students, parents, co-workers and administrators. This year 86 teachers were nominated to receive the award – 24 teachers were named as semi-finalists.
Glenvar had five nominees: Kim Clapper, Amy Crawford, Meggen Devlin, Leslie Clark, and Erin Carroll. Erin Carroll was selected as the teacher of the year for the Green Apple Award for the category of teachers with three years of experience or less. Amy Crawford was the elementary level finalist. They each won $500.00.
Glenvar Elementary was the only school of 28 that had two winners. All nominees also received $25.00 for being nominated. Congratulations to these five fine teachers and all of our staff, as all of you are winners! Special thanks to Matt Walker, our technology resource teacher in 2008-2009, who worked with the nominees to develop their video. Kim Clapper was nominated by a student that she had several years ago. GO GLENVAR!
