Computers - The PTA has raised money to
purchase at least one new Macintosh computer for each classroom
and two labs filled with computers during 1994-2001 school years.
Software upgrades are a continuing project. Additional AV equipment has been
purchased to supplement or replace existing equipment. Accelerated Reader - The PTA originally purchased this software program and have continued their support of this project over the past few years. They continue to update software, purchase new books for the library, and supply incentives for our students. Curriculum Enhancers - On a continuing basis, the PTA provides funding for a variety of areas. Field trips and speakers are provided for individual grade levels or for the entire school. Funding for both interior and exterior improvements are made annually. Teacher Inservice - The PTA has provided over $1,200 each year to help fund inservice training for all teachers. Playground - The PTA raised over $18,000 in the 1996-97 school year to install new playground equipment that could be used by all students in grades K-5 and the community. The new equipment has a number of components that helps children with the development of upper body strength which is an area that we chose to focus on this year in our physical education program. Track -
The PTA worked
with community businesses to install a walking track during the
1994-95 school year. They received a matching grant for
$5,700 from the Roanoke County Parks and Recreation to pave the
track following the completion of our building additions. The PTA then added a
protective coating to the paved surface.
