Objectives:The student will learn
how to do block letters using the method of a square or rectangle
with a strip for the width of the letter.
how to construct their letter using chip board strips and masking
tape.
how to paper mache.
the three color schemes Monochromatic, Complimentary, and
Analogous.
the difference between Realistic and Non-objective.
SOLS: 7.1,7.3,7.9,7.10,7.12
Procedure:
Teacher
will demonstrate how to do the block letters using a matt board rectangle for a pattern
and a strip of matt board for the letters width.
Students
will then practice doing various letters.
Teacher
will then demonstrate how to construct a 3-D letter using chip board strips and masking tape.
Students
will then begin constructing their initial.
Teacher
will then demonstrate how to paper mache their letter.
Students
will paper mache three layers on their letter.
When
dry, students will then paint their letter with Gesso.
Teacher
will then go over the three color schemes Monochromatic, Complimentary, and
Analogous showing examples of each.
Teacher
will also review the difference between Realistic and Non-objective.
Prior
to actually painting their letter sculpture, students will need to make plans as to
whether their painting on their letter will be Realistic or Non-objective and also which
of the three color schemes they will be using.All
their plans will be discussed with the teacher for suggestions and approval.
Materials:
·newsprint paper, matt board rectangles and strips for patterns
for the practice of block letters
·chip board strips, masking tape for the letter construction
·newspaper and newsprint paper strips, paper mache
glue for the paper mache of the letter
·Gesso
Tempera paint
Evaluation: Students sculpture
letters will be given two grades
First grade will be given on the constuction of their
letter
Craftsmanship
The second grade will be given on the painting on their letter
