ALTERING BOOKS

Construction, Reconstruction, Deconstruction

Alter:  to make or become different

Synonyms:  to change; interchange; exchange; modify; mutate; refashion; turn; vary; convert; diversity; variegate

THE OBJECT

The object of this teacher workshop is to alter an existing book which will provide a neutral
background on which to work.  The book – finished or as a work in progress - will become the
work of art.  Pat will not be teaching this workshop – she will be the “facilitator” – keeping everyone focused.  You can contact Pat during the school year at pcarr@rcs.k12.va.us or summer tcarr83700@aol.com

THE CHALLENGE

From a broad theme, working at a relaxed pace, and using an assortment of personal and found materials, complete pages in a book format.  Take a digital image of your monthly page creations
and email to Lazzelle Parker at lparker@rcs.k12.va.us to share with everyone working in our group.

THEME:  “THAT’S LIFE”

A COUPLE OF QUOTES TO CONSIDER:

“Life is an unbearable gift sometimes.  Unbearably beautiful and
unbearably painful, but always a gift.”
Justine Randal

“The ideals that lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully have been kindness, beauty and trust.”
Albert Einstein
