Teaching Internship

The student will observe and participate in a Pre-K-8th grade internship in a public school setting. The student will work with the elementary classroom teacher during the regular school day. Students will work closely with their coordinating teacher, mentoring teacher and the school principal. Students will be responsible for independent study activities through a combination of distance learning and classroom interaction. Students will work to develop activities and lesson plans suitable for their placement and will work on their implementation. Students access to a home computer with internet will be helpful. Students may participate in cooperative education with the permission from the instructor. Students are required to participate in FCCLA activities. A course material and student organization fee is required.

Prerequisites:

  • Seniors Only
  • College-bound
  • Must provide own transportation
  • Excellent attendance
  • Must plan on pursuing an Education Degree
