The Center for Mass Communication is a four-year course of study in the areas of television, radio and print media. Students will study the history and development of the different media. Other focus topics include marketing techniques, TV production, radio production, print production and legal and ethical industry issues.

A supervised internship in the areas of television, radio and print media will be part of the fourth year of study. Parents must transport students to A. R. Burton. Roanoke County Public Schools will provide bus transportation back to the home school only.

Goals and Objectives

  • To provide students an opportunity to focus on the major elements of the communications industry
  • To afford students a hands-on experience in television, radio and print media production
  • To give students entry-level skills into the mass communications field
