Dr. Lorraine Lange
I consider it a privilege to serve as superintendent of the Roanoke County School System, a system widely known for academic as well as athletic achievements. The Roanoke County School Board and Board of Supervisors work together to provide our community with a strong, superior school system. We are fortunate to have a staff of highly qualified professionals who embrace our motto, “Learning for all…Whatever it takes.” They, along with parents, citizens, and local businesses work together to provide the best educational experiences possible for our students.
Roanoke County students have many learning opportunities available to them through our laptop initiative, distance learning, specialty schools, alternative schools, High Schools that Work programs, and our collaborative teaching and inclusion in special education. In addition to the many accolades received by our students and staff, Roanoke County was the first school division in the state to be accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and all our schools are fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education.
