Johnson & Wales University Career Explorations
2012: Johnson & Wales University will be hosting a career exploration
program this summer. The program will be a 3-day summer programs for rising
Juniors & Seniors. Registration deadlines begin June 2012. For mor information,

Holiday Forestry Camp: The Holiday Forestry Camp is a camp for students agest 13 - 16 and is designed to introduce "young Virginians to the challenges, special skills and knowledge needed for managing the forest resources we use and enjoy every day." VCU Physical Therapy Summer Exploration:
The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Allied Health Professions at
Virginia Commonwealth University will sponsor a two week summer exploration
program (http://www.dhsd.vcu.edu/programs/highschool/physicaltherapy.html) to provide students the opportunity to take an in-depth
look at physical therapy as a profession. The program will begin July 9, 2012
and applications must be submitted by April 27, 2012.

Blue Ridge Summer Institute for Yount Artists (BLUR): This program will be held at Sweet Briar College on June 17-July 8, 2012 for students interested in creative writing, theatre, or visual arts. For more information, visit www.sbc.edu/blur.
National Youth Science Camp: This program is for Seniors who demonstrate superior academic proficiency, including recognition in mathematics &/or sciences. AIU High School Diplomats: AIU High School Diplomats brings
Japanese and American students together at Princeton University. The program is
available to current sophomores and juniors. The program will be held July 31 -
August 11, 2012. Applications postmarked 1/8/12.

Phillips Academy Summer at Andover: Summer at Andover program through Phillips Academy. The program is available to students entering grades 9-12. Academy will be held June 26-August 1,2012. VA STEM Program:
The Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars
(VASTS) program is a FREE interactive on-line science, technology, engineering
and mathematics (STEM) learning experience for high school juniors, culminating
in a one-week residential Summer Academy at NASA Langley Research Center in
Hampton. VASTS consists of ten online modules from December 2011 through
May 2012. Students who successfully participate in VASTS earn 2 college
credits for the online course and 2 additional credits for the Summer Academy.

College & Careers Program: Rochester Institute of Technology will be hosting the College & Careers program for rising Seniors. The program will be held July 22-23 and August 5-6, 2011. Register online at http://www.admissions.rit.edu/careers
College Orientation Workshop: The College Orientation Workshop (COW) will be offered at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), June 26, 2011, through July 23, 2011. This workshop is a challenging summer educational enrichment program. The goal is to prepare male, minority high school rising juniors and seniors to achieve success during the remainder of their high school careers and beyond. This is done by cultivating confidence, greater self-esteem, a stronger work ethic, and a commitment to achieving success in spite of the many challenges facing them. Rising 11th- and 12th- grade male, minority students interested in the workshop must fill out a five-part, online application. Applications should be accessed and submitted via the COW Web site at http://cow4life.wordpress.com/. The deadline for submitting application materials is Monday, May 16, 2011.

AIU High School Diplomats: This program is available to all Sophomore & Junior students. The program dates are July 27-August 6, 2011 & will be held at Princeton University. Broadreach's Academic Treks: Broadreach’s Academic Treks offers college-accredited summer adventure programs abroad that focus on marine science, language immersion, environmental studies and/or community service. VT Summer Internships in Science: Interested in learning more about
cancer and getting experience doing molecular biology research? Two interns will
be selected to spend three weeks (tentative dates June 20 – July 8) in Dr.
Finkielstein’s lab in the Dept. of Biological Sciences at VT and three weeks
(tentative dates July 9-July 30) at the Escuela Tecnica Otto Krause in Buenos
Aires, Argentina. Interns will work side by side with researchers. Submit

describing your interest in science, research and international travel; high

Commonwealth Leadership
Institute: The
Commonwealth Leadership Institute will be held at Christopher Newport University
from June 27-July 1. The program is for Rising High School Seniors. The

STAR Program: The STAR (The Science Training and Research Program) is a 4-week residential program at the College of Willliam & Mary. The program is a pre-collegiate summer enrichment program for rising 11th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The program covers non-courses in mathematics, biology, chemistry, & SAT preparation. Eligible students must have a cumulative GPA of at least a B, come from a disadvantaged backbround, will be fully completed with the 10th grade by June 2010, and express a willingness to work and a desire to improve their level of scholarsitc achievement in order to attend post-secondary education after high school. This an all-expense paid program for eligible students.The program will take place June 19-July 17, 2010. Summer Engineering at Sweet Briar: Summer Engineering Course at Sweet
Briar College will take place July 25-30. Rising Juniors & Seniors are eligible

Miss Teen Virginia International 2010: Miss Teen Virginia International 2010, an official preliminary to the Miss Teen International Pageant that will be held at the North Shore Performing Arts Center in Chicago, Illinois. The dates are July 19th ~ July 24th, 2010. Miss Teen International 2010 will receive Prizes and college scholarship money.
