Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

We had a spectacular school year last year. When I think back, I think of our achievements, from academics to our community’s success in using our resources to help support a wonderful place like St. Jude’s! I also can’t help but to think of the fun times. I smile when I think of Field day, Bonsack Bash, student performances, our St. Jude’s celebration, and simply the smiles on our students’ faces.

I know, without a doubt, this year will be equally successful and fun. I look forward to watching our students grow and learn in an environment that is challenging and supportive. I can’t help but to be excited about the iPods purchased with a combination of funds from Mrs. McCarthy’s Book Fair profits and our generous PTA. There are many other surprises in store for our students that will enhance our learning. We have a wonderful, talented, group of teachers and this year they will have even more tools to use to help your children learn.  We will also be introducing a new math program that promises new avenues of learning math from basic operations to higher levels of problem-solving. Teachers will also have access to a wider variety of reading materials to take our students to the next level, with the addition of our new book room.

This year also promises plenty of extracurricular activities. We all know Mr. Glasscock will provide our students with tons of fun activities for Field Day, not to mention, all the fun they have in gym class on a weekly basis. Mrs. Campbell will, once again, adorn the hallways with the beautiful artwork of our students, and Mrs. Long will help our students shine on stage. I am also equally confident that our  outstanding PTA is busy working on their plans for the upcoming school year. They are so dedicated to our students and staff. We are truly fortunate to have them. In addition, I know many of our students look forward to their sunny times on one of our playgrounds , and we all love watching them create stronger bonds with their friends and making new friends.

I really just want to say thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your children’s lives. We love them, and our goal is to make Bonsack a warm and supportive environment where our students can learn, mature, and of course, have fun!
